The teaching at Istituto Superiore di Design combines long experience with the most advanced teaching methods. The range of courses offered include:
- three-year graduate courses for students who have high-school diploma or equivalent permitting university admission and wish to acquire a complete training and have no specific basic knowledge
- one-year intensive academic courses for students who have no specific basic knowledge and wish to acquire a complete training and have limited time availability
- one-year master courses for students who already have strong previous education in the field but wish to attend an advanced specialised programme
- one-month summer courses are structured in a way that offers a significant and complete experience in the field
- one month intensive Italian courses to attend all programmes without any comprehension
problem
- and a number of workshops held by visiting professors representing the most different trends on the international scene, which cover particular aspects of the designing activities or investigate the present scenario and the technical and technologic innovations.
Istituto Superiore di Design strives to create fruitful co-operations with the institutions, the world of industry, craftsmen and professional associations, in order to adjust the contents of its teaching to the transformations of the market, of the new marketable goods and the changing models of comfort.

The General Courses and special Masters of Istituto Superiore di Design give students the opportunity to get an up-to-date and tailored professional training by means of:
- intensive practice in real situations, real and virtual experimental tests in the dedicated Laboratories;
- visits to and stages at building sites, factories, research centres;
- special workshops and regular meetings with designers, architects, graphic designers, fashion designers, who are not part of the teaching staff of the school and who are renowned for their competence and commitment;
- an innovative teaching approach, which gives students the opportunity to build their own learning path through the combination of many different experiences, thus tailoring their curriculum to their own bents and to the needs of the market.
SCHOOL OF MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION DESIGN
Graphic designers deal with the design of elements for visual communication. They operate in all those fields where image and graphics lend a fundamental, decisive and unique support to the communicative aspect. Graphic designers may work within several profession fields: pubblications, shows and exhibitions, packaging, visual image for companies and institutions, multimedia design, interactive and hypertext publishing, or animated graphics applied to moving images in all television production which require them. Typical entry point in to the world of work, as well as freelance work are publishing houses, graphic design studios and advertising agencies.

SCHOOL OF FASHION
Fashion designers are figures who, in the design of fashion products, are able to blend high refinement, aestetic taste, and cretivity with technical knowledge of materials, manufactoring procedures and entrepreneurial capacity. Fashion designers operatein the field oh high fashion, from prêt-à-porter to sportswear, from knitwear to underwear, and may further specialise in textile design or in design of accessories. Fashion designers may find employment opportunities in fashion, textile and knitwear companies, in professional studios and in pttern-making studios as stylist, textile designers, illustratorsm consultants in the field of production, sales and purchasing, and also, in the world of show business, as costume designers.

Interior and industrial designer are professional figures able to marry technical and aestetic functionality, both in the planning of interior spaces in weach peple live and move, and in the design of products as consumer items. Fields in which interior and industrial designers operate include interior design and furnishing for trade fairs, art exhibition and temporary events in general; the design of items for use, consumption or service for craft or for small and medium businesses.
